Celebrating Leadership and Community Impact in Fairfield

Leadership Fairfield class project supporting school children in Fairfield

Congratulations to Alexandria Johnson, Donor Services Officer, and the entire 2024–2025 Leadership Fairfield class! Their recent graduation marks not just the completion of a leadership development program, but the continuation of their commitment to Fairfield.

Together, this group raised more than $7,700 to provide 1,100 backpacks for students attending the Fairfield City School District’s Back-to-School Bash. Their work addressed an immediate need for local families and helped ensure that hundreds of students could begin the school year prepared.

The success of the class project didn’t end with the event. It helped spark the creation of a new, lasting partnership between Fairfield City Schools and the Fairfield Community Foundation: the Back to School Bash Fund. This fund will allow the community to sustain and grow the event for years to come.

About the Back-to-School Bash Fund

Every August, Fairfield City Schools kicks off the school year with a high-energy Back-to-School Bash at Crossroads Middle School. Held on the first Saturday morning of the month, this fun-filled event features free backpacks stuffed with school supplies (while they last), games, community booths, stadium activities, and even early morning hot dogs.

The Back-to-School Bash Fund at the Fairfield Community Foundation supports the charitable activities of the Fairfield City School District, including this one-of-a-kind event, ensuring it continues to grow and serve local Fairfield families for years to come.

About Leadership Fairfield

Offered by the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Fairfield is a nine-month program designed to cultivate informed, connected, and engaged community leaders. It brings together a diverse group of professionals and residents throughout Fairfield and Fairfield Township to learn more about the community and work collaboratively to make it better.

The program meets once a month, from September through May, and includes nine day-long sessions and a class recognition luncheon. Participants explore many aspects of the community—from local government and education to economic development, public safety, and nonprofit services—through in-person site visits, conversations with local leaders, and hands-on learning.

Graduates of Leadership Fairfield leave the program with a deeper understanding of the city’s strengths and challenges, a broader network of civic and professional relationships, and a renewed sense of purpose to lead and serve.
